A Little Boy Grew Out His Hair For 2 Years To Give His Friend A Fresh Start

This hero has a heart of gold.

A true friend is one of the greatest treasures in life.

As a famous author once wrote, “Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”  Our friends are those “charming gardeners”--adding joy, laughter, support and comfort to our days.

Twelve-year-old Gabby Ruiz, of Riverview, Florida, experienced the deepest care and support from her dear friend, ten-year-old Tyler Boone.

Since Gabby was only four-years-old she has suffered from an autoimmune skin disease called alopecia areata.  Her disorder causes hair loss on the scalp, face and other areas of the body.

Gabby gracefully wore headbands and hats since buying a quality wig (made from real hair) was far too expensive.  Her condition made her extremely shy and lacking in self confidence.

Caring for Gabby, and wanting to add some joy to her life, Tyler decided to start on a journey of self-sacrifice.

For two years, Tyler grew out his hair until it reached the required ten inches in length needed to make a wig for Gabby.

Tyler worked with the nonprofit organization Children With Hair Loss to present Gabby with this priceless gift.

Gabby was uplifted by Tyler’s sacrifice.

Her mother shared, “To see Gabby smile after going through all of this has been really sweet.”

For Gabby, Tyler’s selfless act will serve as a constant source of happiness and comfort.

In this case, we witness the love, light and joy birthed by the deepest friendship.
