She Saved Her Mom's Life And She's Only 3-years-old

A simple song worked its magic.

Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes and the Eaves family has proven in this episode of Heroes Among Us that they can also be any age.

Setting the stage in Guthrie, Oklahoma is Jessica Eaves, wife and mother of three. Eaves suffers from vasovagal syncope- a very common condition in the United States that causes low blood pressure, reduced blood flow to the brain, fatigue, fainting and an abnormal heart rate.

Jessica taught one her daughters, 3-year-old Madelyn, how to react when she is experiencing an emergency. By teaching Madelyn a song with the lyrics “9-1-1 Green,” she is able to remember how to call for help when it is needed.

The repetitive song came in handy when Jessica one day fainted while home with Madelyn. 911 dispatcher, Shelly Clemons, answered the call and knew it was serious when she discovered the age of young Madelyn. Clemons remained on the line with her until the ambulance arrived at her home.

When Jessica regained consciousness she was told by the EMTs that her daughter had made the call which made her very proud. The importance of teaching her child, even at 3 years old, what to do in case of an emergency had saved her.

"I will never forget the day that this happened and I thank God that He gave me such a smart little girl. [Madelyn] is definitely my hero,” said Jessica.
